Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, known as Mr P, has publicly criticized his twin brother Paul Okoye, aka Rudeboy, in an emotional and forthright letter shared on Instagram.

In the letter, Peter confronts long-standing tensions between the brothers, particularly Paul’s comments that seem to undermine Peter’s contributions to their former music duo, P-Square.

Peter voiced his frustration over what he perceives as Paul’s continuous attempts to downplay his role in the group they co-founded, which became a sensation across Africa.

He wrote: ‘My dear brother Paul, as I’ve said many times, I’m not in competition with you or anyone else.’

Peter accused Paul of repeatedly giving interviews where he claimed to have written and sung 99 percent of P-Square’s songs, and criticized him for dismissing ‘Ejeajo,’ a track Peter wrote, as a failure.

‘In your recent interviews, you claimed to have written and sung 99 percent of all P-SQUARE songs, discrediting me by labeling our song with TI, “Ejeajo,” which I wrote, as a failure,’ Peter stated.

Peter further questioned Paul’s disregard for their other successful tracks, asking if songs like ‘Get-Squared,’ ‘Bizzy Body,’ ‘Personally,’ and others were also considered failures.

He pointed out that he has always praised Paul’s songwriting talent in interviews but expressed disappointment that Paul seems to take pleasure in belittling him rather than appreciating the recognition.

‘Instead of being thankful for my kind words, you seem to take satisfaction in rubbing it in my face, forgetting that we’ve come this far by God’s grace,’ Peter added.

The letter also touches on deeper issues, with Peter accusing Paul of sidelining and demeaning him. He expressed regret that, instead of working together to regain their position in the Nigerian music industry, Paul chose to align with their older brother, Jude Okoye, to dominate the group.

‘You consistently find ways to marginalize and humiliate me, claiming to be P-SQUARE’s songwriter, composer, producer, singer, backup vocalist—essentially everything, including P-SQUARE’s video director, band, promoter, manager, and choreographer,’ Peter wrote.

The open letter has stirred significant reactions from fans and industry insiders, many of whom have closely followed the ups and downs of the Okoye brothers’ relationship.

P-Square, once one of Africa’s most iconic musical duos, split in 2017 after a series of disputes. Though the brothers briefly reconciled in 2021 and performed together again, underlying tensions have continued to strain their relationship.
